How to Upload a Gedcom File to Familysearch

How can I upload a GEDCOM file?

Ulrich Kohlstaedt

I am trying to upload a GEDCOM file (size about nine.v MB) created by FamilyTree Maker 2019 to Family Search. The transfer didn't commencement and issued an error note: "Unable to upload files larger than 300 MB".

The terminal upload I did half-dozen month ago worked without any problems !

Is there a solution possible?

    FYI

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    Just in passing ...

I have 'seen', a few posts of belatedly, regarding problems/problems, regarding the "Upload", of GEDOM Files, in 'FamilySearch', that were UNDER the "File" Size LIMIT; as, in your case.

And, I am not certain that there was any detail commonality.

'Yes', the "File" Size of your GEDCOM File seems to be well Under the size LIMIT ...

And, even, the suggested size being:

    • We recommend that you submit small GEDCOM files of no more than100 names. Afterwards the upload, smaller files brand the compare and re-create process easier to manage.
    • If yous intend to but preserve and share your file, it tin can contain up to 100 MB.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

I have NOT used "FamilyTree Maker 2019" ...

I could be TOTALLY wrong hither; and, I stand up corrected, if I am wrong ...

I find, that "FamilyTree Maker 2019", DOES Non, announced to be, in the "Solutions Gallery", of 'FamilySearch.

I am not proverb, adversely; only, possibly, "FamilyTree Maker 2019", is not a "Third Political party" Application, that is "Certified" to work, with "Family unit Tree", of 'FamilySearch'.

And, equally such, only thinking out aloud here, possibly, the GEDCOM Files, produced through "FamilyTree Maker 2019", are not compatible with 'FamilySearch' - just a idea.

The same, is all speculation on my part.

As, information technology is ODD, that a GEDOM File, with such SMALL "File" Size, would be getting such an ERROR Message.

Here are a couple of "Cognition Articles", in 'FamilySearch':

I know, that this certainly may non help/aid; just, I hope, that this may provide you lot with, some additional, insight; and, perspective; plus, other avenues to pursue.
